Let Go & Enjoy Your Life

Let Go & Enjoy Your Life

What if I told you that you already had everything you need to enjoy life?

It’s often assumed that we need to make drastic changes to our habits or routines. You feel you need to achieve that next promotion or buy that big sofa, in order to be happy. Here’s the secret – none of what you’ve been telling yourself is true. It’s really just a question of prioritising. Prioritising and practicing that which has the greatest influence over a positive mind-set.

1. Be grateful

It’s almost impossible to be grateful and unhappy at the same time. Give it a go and see what I mean.

You may have seen my grateful posts from time to time on social media. I do this because I find it improves my self-esteem and reduces negative emotions. Grateful people also take better care of their health, exercise more and sleep better.

2. Relax

Make sure you have time to relax and reconnect with yourself, this will leave you better equipped to deal with more challenging periods in your life. This ‘relax’ time shouldn’t just be a go to when you’re stressed out, but something you do a daily basis, regardless.

3. Celebrate the moments not just the achievements

Life isn’t about hopping from one life experience and achievement to another. Although, I appreciate social media and television often leads us to think this is true. Instead, learn to enjoy the moment’s in-between.

This is particularly true in business. If you’re holding off and only celebrating awards and business profits that can be quite some wait in-between. After all, these achievements don’t happen every day.

Try and enjoy every happy customer or appreciate that you’re doing something you love daily. This will give you a regular high and personally I think these are amazing achievements in themselves.

4. Find a Community

Community is one of the most important needs we have. Expanding your support system will provide you with more resources to get you through tough times and plenty of laughter to share the good. Making a consistent effort to meet new people introduces us to new ideas and perspectives.

Of course, it’s not easy to find a community while you’re in a world-wide pandemic, but there are ways round this. LinkedIn offers a wonderful online network of individuals. Of course, there’s also the Family Business Practice - we currently hold all our events online. Why not pop along to one of our business development sessions as my guest? You’ll soon know if our group provides you with the community you’ve been looking for. Send me a quick message on LinkedIn if you’d like further information or a guest invite.
