There are many parts to a Reputation, can you keep your eyes on all of them? Thought4The Week from Peter Roper
As I write this many things are going on in the world. The news feeds are full of bad news, in fact as much as we can handle, I guess right now.

Unfortunately, they seem hard-wired to look in the main at negativity, with the occasional feel-good article to justify their existence, at least that is how it seems.

Don’t get me wrong there are some very good well-meaning individuals inside the press however unfortunately, they swim against a torrent of easy pickings when it comes to bad news…

The proof of this is I have looked at the mainstream press today and equivalent social media fields and frankly, by the end of it, I needed a stiff drink.

– ok maybe not but you get my point.

What's the point, Peter?

As a business, you must tread very carefully these days. One bad bit of press and you can be toast. Just look at the mess Bud Light has made and more recently Wickes for instance. They are called Ratner moments...

Whether we like it or not in business we can’t hide from this fact so better to be clear about what your reputation should be in your own eyes. Then plan how to make it stick in the eyes of most of your clients and potential prospects etc.

We have devised a programme that has nine key areas (there are more!) that enable you to understand your strengths and weaknesses within your business reputation and devise a plan accordingly.

One of our Family Business Practice members was kind enough to send this testimonial on the subject recently…

"As a business, we have been spending a lot of time focussing on three things; i) who we are, ii) the customers that we serve, iii) improving the quality of referrals that we get into the business.

Sometimes, it takes a conversation to step back and realise that people buy from people and unless we share core similarities then any relationship will never truly stand the test of time nor have quality to it.

Peter helped us establish this position from the outset and thereafter we spent a lot of time discussing how we create a reputation (not by what you do but by what you have done!!) and defining what a quality referral looks like.

To date, we have seen Gross Profit increase by over 10% year-on-year via the new approach we are taking. I would highly recommend working with Peter as a person and as a businessman."
