Family Business Thursdays

Weekly conversations for family businesses under pressure

Family businesses rarely struggle because of a lack of effort, intelligence, or commitment.

More often, they struggle because pressure builds quietly, conversations are delayed, and decisions are made too late — or not at all.

Family Business Thursdays exists to create a calm, regular space where those pressures can be noticed, explored, and talked through before they cause damage.

Joining live

Family Business Thursdays takes place every Thursday at 12.00pm on Zoom.

Everyone is welcome — family business owners, leaders, next-generation members, advisers, and partners.

What this is

Family Business Thursdays is a weekly live Zoom conversation, held every Thursday at 12.00pm, built around a short piece of writing published the day before.

Each session combines:

  • a short opening reflection

  • small-group conversation

  • and a closing discussion

There is no selling, no obligation to speak, and no expectation to arrive with answers.

Listening is a valid way to take part.

Why this matters

Family businesses often carry pressure in silence — to keep the peace, protect relationships, or avoid difficult conversations.

Over time, that silence becomes costly.

These sessions are designed to:

  • slow things down

  • surface what’s really happening

  • and help people think more clearly about what matters next

Not through advice or instruction, but through shared reflection and conversation.

Why attend regularly?

Each session stands alone — you can attend once or occasionally.

However, those who attend regularly often say the real value comes from:

  • noticing patterns over time

  • hearing how others are handling similar pressures

  • and developing the habit of pausing before reacting

This isn’t about fixing everything in one hour.

It’s about creating thinking space, week by week.

How the sessions work

Each Thursday session follows a consistent structure:

  1. Opening reflection
A short, recorded reflection based on Wednesday’s blog.

  2. Small-group conversation
Participants are invited into breakout groups to discuss a single prompt.
There is no pressure to contribute.

  3. Closing discussion
We return together to reflect on themes and observations.

Everything shared remains confidential.

Watching the recordings

The most recent Family Business Thursday recordings are hosted here on this page.

All sessions are also available on our dedicated YouTube channel, allowing you to:

  • watch at your own pace

  • revisit topics

  • or share conversations you find useful

Live attendance is encouraged, but not required.

A quiet connection to further support

For some people, these conversations are enough.

For others, they act as a starting point — helping clarify whether more structured or private support might be useful.

There is no expectation to take things further.

The right step is always the one that feels safe and appropriate.
